Agafay Desert Marrakech Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Marrakech > Atlas Mountaines > Agafay

Take a short, alternative Day tour to the Marrakesh Desert Agafay. Your pick up from your hotel/riad at 9 am for the journey to Agafay about an hour away. The area is a rocky, dry, moon-like desert offering unexpected and splendid views of the High Atlas Mountains, snow-capped in winter. It is a mineral universe only disturbed by a few flocks of sheep passing by in their search for grass and herbs. In the middle of this desert lies a marvelous; oasis, a place of tranquility and peacefulness. Here, even surrounded by such barrenness, frogs and turtles live and breed; Whilst plants can also flourish. In the Agafay desert, we enjoy about a half-hour camel ride. And later, we head off-road into the High Atlas Mountains forming, a backdrop in the distance. We visit the Lalla Takerkoust lake; Which supplies Marrakesh with water; You will arrive at the edge of the Lalla Takerkoust lake built as a dam where Marrakech gets its electricity from. Through small hills along the dam, you will get to Nafis valley crossing Berber villages and arriving at a Berber family house. You can visit the house and have lunch inside. Marrakesh relies on that snow each year to refill this lake. There is a great demand for water in this most popular city in Morocco. We back to Marrakech the red city; having enjoyed the purity and beauty of the mountains still untouched in large areas.
