This day includes a transfer by 4WD from Marrakech to Imlil; With, on the way, the chance to stop to take photographs and, if it is market day, to visit a local market. Already arrived in Imlil we set off along mule tracks for the hour or so walk to Aremd. That village is the last in the valley before Toubkal; And from it, there are magnificent views down the valley and up towards the summit of Toubkal. Then have a picnic lunch and then set off back to Imlil where we have mint tea on a cafe terrace before returning to Marrakech.
If you wish to go to Toubkal then; That is a more demanding private Marrakech Day trip, requiring an early start from Marrakech – or even better spending the night before in Imlil or Aremd. This is a long day but rewarding and takes you as far as the Toubkal Refuge. Then from Imlil at 1740m to the Toubkal Refuge at 4000m – a climb of 2500m – requires reasonable fitness, but is not technically difficult.
Each day starts in Imlil (or Aremd if you have stayed the night there) and is an uphill climb first to Sidi Chamarouch, a Muslim shrine frequented by pilgrims, where we have a stop. Then advance up to the Toubkal Refuge, with the summit of Toubkal above us. AT here we have our picnic lunch before returning back down to Imlil for transfer back to Marrakech in the early evening.

We will start our Imlil day trip at 09 am from Marrakech by a 4WD vehicle or minivan for a 2-hour drive south up the Moulay Brahim Gorges, and the Berber village of Asni very popular for its weekly market every Saturday then to Imlil. Imlil is a small village at the foothills of the highest mountains in Morocco Toubkal mountain. Imlil is the center to hire mountain guides and mules due to its unique position and its connection to several Berber villages and a very popular start point of treks and hikes for climbing Toubkal mountain. Arrival to Imlil here we shall leave our vehicle to take mules for around 40 minutes towards the south to the Berber village of Aroumd (Aremd) (1843m) set in the upper-level foothills of the Western High Atlas mountains, the main trailhead with streams and paths branching out in all directions to get our lunch which will be served in a Berber house in the village of Aroumd. Afterward, you can take a short walk before we return to Marrakech.
